Bluebells and Happiness

Spring in England is very beautiful, but some of the blooms last only a glorious week or two.  So, yesterday which was a public holiday, my Mum packed a picnic and we went for a drive through the Kentish countryside, looking for bluebells, and we found loads.  We took photos because in a week or two they will be gone until next year.

Aren't they glorious?  Bluebells are now protected because they were so overpicked that they were on the verge of being endangered, and something so lovely shouldn't be allowed to go the way of the Dodo.  Emerson said in his poem "The Rhodora" that "Beauty is its own excuse for being" and Keats "a thing of beauty is a joy forever.  It will never pass into nothingness".

Here is where we stopped to enjoy our picnic

We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.  Sadly, many people have become embittered by some of the wrongs the Government has allowed/encouraged/enforced.  Yet, I don't really believe it is too late.  We know we face tough times ahead as the government has to address the huge deficit in our economy.  Apparently £1 in every £4 the government spends is borrowed.  I still think there is a sense of duty, common sense and decency in most of our Queen's subjects, and a lot can be done with such good basic building blocks, especially if people are told fairly and frankly what has to be done.  I hope the next government does Communication and not Spin.

Sean is always pleased to see the children, and as you can see, they are quick to take advantage. Wendy really looks out for her sister. She thought Teresa would enjoy a ride on the "Tiger's" back, so she lifted her up and held on to her to prevent her falling. That little girl has such a good heart, and we delight in her. Indeed, in both of them.
