Plumber came - and went - and hopefully will come back again later

The plumber I waited for yesterday came today. He examined the boiler carefully and said it was working perfectly. I insisted that our bathwater at best was the temperature of a swimming pool, so he went to check it, and he found the water cold too. Yet the boiler is working perfectly. So he went to check the meter room as the utility company had installed new meters in July. He thinks they may have set the "governing switch" wrong, and he says he is coming back later.

I really hope he gets it sorted out because swimming pool heat is all very well in summer, but in winter, its a different matter altogether. Michelle and I usually love bathing, but recently getting into cold water in winter hasn't exactly tempted us to want to bath more. It has turned an innocent pleasure into an ordeal to be got over with as quickly as possible.

Still, we are lucky. There are millions of people all over the world who have no plumbing of any description at all and have to carry water home from a dirty river. And do their laundry in crocodile infested rivers. Thinking of that rather puts my plumbing problem into perspective, doesn't it?

FRIDAY 26th
He came back with two other plumbers and they decided that there was insufficient gas flow and that the boiler needs several parts. He says he will tell my landlord that it would be cheaper to put in a new boiler. So we will wait and see what happens. I'm dreaming of a hot bath ....
