Sunday

We have had a very nice day. We had coffee, toast and marmelade then went to Church. Afterwards we went home to pick up Benny and for Sean, Michelle and I to get in a taxi to go to the Cat and Custard Pot in Paddlesworth, which is very rural countryside.

We met up with Caelyn, Nigel and family and we had lunch there. They aren't doing Sunday Roasts at the moment, so we had food off the ordinary menu instead. They were busy so it took a while for our food to arrive, and while we were waiting the children got restive. So Wendy and I strolled up the lane that leads to the ancient church. In a field next to the church, a great Shire horse was grazing with a Shetland pony. Absolutely idyllic.

The Shire horse and Shetland pony in the field next to the church. Apparently the pony belongs to a child who rides on it to Churchill School and back every day. I was told there is no way the pony will stay at home. He insists on taking the child to school. I think thats lovely.

Then there was a very friendly mare called Abbey who pulled a crowd of children quicker than a movie star. Wendy enjoyed picking grass for her to eat.

The only thing that went wrong was that Sean left his overnight bag in the taxi and his anorak at my house. We only found out about the bag when the taxi driver brought it to the pub on his way home after finishing his shift. I thought that was very good of him, as he would have been well within his rights to simply hand it in at the taxi company's office. In another taxi on the way home, Sean realised that he had left his anorak at my flat, and it was lucky that he had time to come back to get it before hurrying off for his train. He is on his way to Milton Keynes to have supper with his son, and possibly his daughter if she is well enough.
