My mum checked her bank balance on the internet this morning and to her horror, she discovered several transactions by an overseas company called Product Support. She has never heard of them and she most certainly did not authorise the £631 stolen from her account. She didn't have that much money in it but she has an overdraft facility so these debits pushed her right into the Red.
Her bank, Lloyds TSB, turned up trumps. They put her through to the Fraud department straight away. They cancelled her card with immediate effect and are sending her another one. Until she gets it she can withdraw money by going into the bank with a photo ID such as a passport. The stolen money will be credited back to her account within 5 days and she will not be charged Interest on this illegal overdraft.
We are wondering how it happened. She shreds her bank statements before throwing them away, and she doesn't use the card to pay for stuff on the internet and she only uses her card locally. Yet this Product Support is an overseas company.
Well done, Lloyds, for putting things right so speedily.
