This Weekend

We enjoyed a wonderfully homely weekend.

Sean came on Saturday and we ordered food from the Gurkha Palace, a Nepalese restaurant with excellent food. The take care to give the food very subtle flavours and do not depend on the addition of huge amounts of chilli to make the dish hot. Sean had been wary of curry because in his experience all it was was a fiery flavour and quite unpleasant, but her has been won over by the proper stuff.

Michelle was with us and we had our curry in front of the TV watching a DVD called Queen starring Helen Mirren which dealt with the response of the British monarchy to the death of Princess Diana. We enjoyed the movie very much.

On Sunday we had a roast dinner after Church. My Mum came too because Sean had agreed to advise her on her Will. Then Caelyn and Nigel turned up. Caelyn was exhausted with caring for a baby and packing up the house in preparation for their move on Wednesday so she went to bed after lunch. Nigel went to see his Nanna. Josie went home, Michelle went for a snooze and Sean and I took Wendy to the Italian ice-cream shop and got her a strawberry sorbet which she loved so much she ended up wearing most of it.

Michelle began attending the South Kent Community Church a few months ago and was 'received into the church' on Sunday. She has met quite a few young people there and they socialise quite a lot. Her last day at Saga is today, Monday. She starts at the Care company later this week. She will start off working at their places in Hythe and Lympne and when my mothers visits South Africa, Michelle will stay in her house to look after her cat. That has worked out well because my mother lives quite near where Michelle will be working. She hope to have some driving lessons so she can buy a small car to get to work.

On Tuesday night I will stay at Caelyn's house to help look after the baby while they move on Wednesday. On Thursday, Sean is coming for a small pre-birthday celebration. His actual birthday is on Friday and I will visit him then because he is going to see his daughter in Milton Keynes on Saturday and it would be too difficult to get there from Folkestone.

So - a very homely/family weekend that we all enjoyed very much. I am very glad that Sean is a man of simple and gentle pleasures.
