Girls Night In was held at Caelyn and Nigel's last night. Michelle didn't come as she was working and she is having acute Wendy Withdrawal Symptoms!
I'm happy to say that Wendy is better and back to her old sunny self. poor little one wasn't well for what seemed like ages.
Caelyn and Nigel's friend John came over and he and Nigel were putting up blinds, solving a draught problem in the cellar, putting up baby gates and fixing childproof locks to the cupboards. They had a terrible fright when they saw Wendy halfway up the stairs in seconds so they decided extra safety measures had to be put in place ASAP. She can open the baby gate they already had so the new ones they chose are much more complicated and hopefully therefore much safer. She is very bright and very agile so they can't put too much faith in ordinary safety measures.
At that age, her mother gave me a terrible fright. She crawled up the diamond mesh fence we had and was crawling in the road!!!!!! We had to have a 6' concrete fence put in, with an iron bar gate that only had vertical bars. I had left her playing with the saucepans in the kitchen while I answered the door and when I got back she had pulled the kitchen drawers open, climbed up them, and was crawling past a boiling steel kettle heading for a big pot of soup on the cooker. I don't know how she survived babyhood. Heck, I don't know how I survived it! There is nothing like a mobile kid who hasn't got sense yet for lacerating parent's nerves! (In those days, there were no safety gates or that sort of thing).
