Standing but wanting to walk

Wendy is pulling herself up against furniture and she is also wanting to walk. She puts her hands out in a special way that means 'hold my hands and let me walk'.

Her Mum worries about her hurting herself which is why in most of the photos you will see her hands there to steady Wendy. She is terrified of Wendy getting bruises. My mum and I told her that when a child is becoming more mobile and learning to walk, a few bruises are inevitable. No matter how much care you take, there will be times when she will get the odd bruise. If you try to wrap a child in cotton wool and completely shield them from every conceivable danger, they will become nervous wrecks. Our advice was to
a) take REASONABLE care but don't become neurotic
b) let her enjoy exploring her world
c) relax!
d) accept that a few bruises on the way to adulthood are inevitable and rejoice if that is the worst thing that happens.
