Wendy has had a difficult week.
She has been teething and had bouts of inconsolable screaming. She hasn’t been sleeping well and she has had the “exploding nappies”.
Caelyn and Nigel are exhausted and needing a bit of respite because baby has been incredibly demanding, miserable and sore.
So tonight they went out on their own for the first time since she was born. They needed it badly. They were just round the corner, and Caelyn says she and Nigel were giggling and joking together for the first time in ages.
We agreed that I would phone if it was necessary.
Wendy was OK for about an hour, and then began crying inconsolably so I called Caelyn and she was back here in less than 5 min.
Now we have all realised that this system works for us they will do it more often. To be good parents it helps if the Marriage is given space to bloom too, because it is that relationship that sustains parenthood.
