Standing with my back to the huge Manor house looking down towards the woodland. There are several smaller houses on the property which are rented out to people. As I understand it, when Jane and Mark bought the Manor house it was a wreck inside, with floors missing etc. I have been told (but cannot vouch for it) that they let the tenants have the smaller houses at peppercorn rents in exchange for their labour in helping to get the Manor house habitable. Sounds like an excellent arrangement to me.
