I was tired and thirsty at this point, so we went back to Trissa's where we had a drink and some lunch. I went to bed then and slept for several hours.
Sean had a rest too then he borrowed Trissa's car and he and Trissa's friend Henrietta went for a walk up Tennyson Down.
Henrietta had arrived at Midnight. She and Trissa have been friends for years. She sadly had just had to have her Spaniel Ciera put to sleep because of grave illness. She was trying to be brave but it was very sad for her. She had loved Ciera very much. What I don't understand is why people in general think that the loss of an animal friend is easy to get over.
Our relationships with animals are different. We know they will not hurt us and they function on an intuitive rather than intellectual/factual level. Because of that we allow them into the deep places of our souls where we could never allow a human being. Their lifespans are shorter than ours and we grieve when they have to go. The grief is just as intense as the loss of a human, and in some cases, even more intense.
Rest in Peace, Ciera. You were a good friend.
