Week ending 6 May 06

My Mum
My mum told me that her copy of MS Windows is not legal, and Microsoft have been emailing her about it.  She had not known that her copy was counterfeit, and can’t afford to buy a legal one.  I gave her a copy of Ubuntu, a Linux distribution that not only is free, but they encourage you to make copies and give them to friends.  It is to do with the philosophy that the poor should not be deprived of good things.  Besides, Linux based systems  are much more stable and less prone to viruses and crashes.
I am proud to say that my mum has managed to use Ubuntu and she even sent me an email from it, so she has done very well.  Even if someone is au fait with computers, wiping Windows and installing something else if formidable.  She went for it and won, so
WELL DONE MUM!  

Michelle
Michelle is feeling guilty because she has been celebrating last weeks’ Slimmer of the Week award with food.  She is making a renewed effort now.

Caelyn, Nigel and Wendy
Caelyn is starting to look healthy again after the pregnancy.  Wendy is cutting a tooth and has been cranky and crying a fair bit, but Caelyn is quite relaxed about it and doesn’t resent the time Wendy needs from her.  Nigel came in soaking wet and frozen last night.  Bless them, they knew my TV is kaput, so they got me another one, a flatscreen Panasonic.  Not only that, but dear Nigel kindly set it up for me.  May the good Lord reward them a thousandfold.

Sean
Sean doesn’t like unisex hairdressers with bleach blonde young women or screaming queens wafting around with talcum powder, so he was pleased to find a no-nonsense Barber yesterday.  His hair looks good, and he is happy.  He overslept this morning and has to scuttle off to church with a speed.

Mr Upstairs
Mr Upstairs has been playing his trumpet (very badly) after midnight last night and in the early hours this morning.  It didn’t worry us because we were awake anyway.  I can quite appreciate that he needs the practice.  Poor love is a bit of an odd bod.
