5 February 06

Michelle did Sean’s head in this morning.  When he got up, she was out, and he was worried.  I said she had probably gone to Church, but he had his doubts.  She came back just before we left to go to Church and told him that she had indeed been to the early Communion service.  She enjoyed it and got a lot out of it.  We enjoyed our Mass as well, and when we got back, we took Michelle out to lunch at the Hermitage French Restaurant.  It was absolutely lovely.

Then Sean went to have tea with George Harby while I settled down to study for my Module 2 Exam in the morning.  Inevitably, I dozed off, and when I woke up Caelyn was here.  Nigel was working tonight but he was feverish in spite of having had paracetamol.  I am fed up with his health problems – the poor little lad is getting no further forward and is STILL waiting to see the Consultant.  He looks visibly ill, and his family are starting to say that he is lazy.  Pah!!  I recognise a sick person when I see a sick person, and I would put money down that the poor kid has and enduring chronic health problem.  In many ways it is unfortunate that the illness is an “invisible” one.  I’m certain it is Crohns Disease, and I think he needs to get proper treatment, including a referral to a medical dietician, as he can tolerate so few foods, and the weight is just dropping off him.  It isn’t as if he has any to spare either.  He tries to put a brave face on it for Caelyn’s sake, but it really is about time those kids had a break.  It has been one stress after the other for far too long now.

I explained that the Dr can’t possibly know what is wrong with him if he never sees him.  I made him a chart to be filled in every day for two weeks, and said he will have to go to the Dr regularly, taking specific information eg dates, times, symptoms etc so the man can have a real idea of what is going on.  Nigel is exhausted, frequently is feverish, has diarrhoea with blood and mucus several times a day, a lot of pain and looks pale and ill.  He is OK for an hour or two, especially if he is full of paracetamol to bring his temp down.  When he came back from work, we had to let him lie down in my bed for a while because he could not otherwise have driven himself and Caelyn home.  I took the photos below in the 10 min he was OK-ish.

I’m off to bed now, as it is exam time tomorrow morning.
