On 6 October, it is the Anniversary of the death of Nigel's Mum, Wendy.
The 6 October is Sean and my Anniversary - 9 years this year.
Wendy will be 19 months old on 10 October.
On 23 October, it will be the 2nd Anniversay of June's death.
And this year, we remember dear Auntie Squibbs who has just died.
May God be with us and in us as we remember these things, and may those who need the comfort of the Holy Spirit have perfect Peace in the innermost depths of their being.
Hasn't Wendy come a long way? Look at her. She is such a joy to us and we are very glad that she was sent to live in our family. She is incredibly precious and a real sweetie. Having her is a comfort in times of sadness because she represents hope. She is such a happy little child and she is so innocent and trusting. That cannot last because she will grow up and know the pain of disillusionment and other nasties everyone has to go through. But while she has this innocence of the darker sides of life, she is an inspiration and a delight. The presence of that innocence makes us want to be better people and to want to work to make the world a better place for her, to build a future she can be safe and happy in.
It occurs to me to wonder about God. When He creates us, He surely delights in our innocent wonder while knowing that we will all too soon lose that innocence by living in a sinful world and by sinning ourselves.
This little girl is the reason her Mum and Dad have gone back to College. They want to get qualifications which will enable them to get better jobs so they can give her a better future.
Caelyn and Nigel are both dyslexic, so studying is extra difficult for them. Nigel blazed the trail last year when he did his first year. It was not easy, but he did it for the best reason in the world - his family. He inspired his wife. They both inspired me. And since Wendy has come to our family, Michelle has been continuously employed for a year and a half and she is studying too. Wendy was unplanned but not unwelcome. If only we had imagined how her being with us in our family has made us all want to pull ourselves together and get on with working for a better future for her and to set a good example for her. She is worth it!
