Michelle Shock

On Friday night after Family Night In, Michelle and Richard went out. She had four alcoholic drinks over several hours - half a pint of beer, a glass of wine and later two vodka with mixes. Really not very much over the course of an evening.

On Saturday I had some fruit juice with them in town. Michelle was feeling very ill and said whole chunks of the evening were missing from her memory. She was having vomiting and diarrhoea and her glands were swollen. She had a headache and felt really rotten. Later her tongue swelled up and she had blisters/ulcers in her mouth. She consulted NHS Direct who asked a series of questions and said that her drinks had been spiked, probably with a date rape drug like rohypnol or GBH or ecstacy with a homemade additive which caused chemical burns in her mouth as she vomited.

Well!!!!!!!! She is very angry and says she feels violated. She is thankful that Richard was with her and looking after her. She says she could have been found days later in someone's car boot or suffer some other horrible fate. She can't get the "might have beens" out of her head. I am very angry too. Furious, in fact. How dare someone drug her without her knowledge, and with a substance that caused chemical burns? We are thankful that it wasn't worse, as it may well have been.

I have told her to stay away from Jolsons. It has the scuzziest reputation of any nightclub in Folkestone.
