The Disasters
A wedding is not a Wedding without a couple of disasters. There were a couple but they weren't too serious and just added to the flow of the day.
First, we were in the car on the way to the ceremony when Mel realised that she had forgotten her flowers, so we had to go back and get it. This, on a busy Saturday morning with typical traffic troubles. We arrived in time though, so that was OK.
Pete's mum is in her 80s and uses a wheelchair after suffering a Stroke. They had organised a special taxi to transport her, her carer and her wheelchair from the ceremony to the reception at Harry's Bar. The Taxi broke down, but they did not phone any of us. Eventually, when the old lady didn't turn up, people called the taxi company to find out where they were. The Taxi company said that the taxi had broken down and another taxi was on its way. Time went by, so another phone call was made. The taxi sent on the rescue mission wasn't equipped to transport wheelchairs so another firm had to help out. In the meantime, Kate and Nigel were on their way to find her to see if they could help. The old lady arrived a couple of hours late, but all is well that ends well.
Lovely Wedding
It was a lovely wedding though and Mel looked lovely. She and Peter seem to be relaxed and happy in each other's company and the respect they have for each other bodes well for the future. I wish them a long and happy life together.
