A Threat

Yesterday we got wind of a threat to our family. Some spiteful and malicious person has been making allegations in dangerous places. We have been invited to tell our side of the story but there is a problem.

The problem is that we are human beings. Like every other species of mammal and even some birds, when our families are threatened our primal and primitive instinct/urge/drive is to defend the family and vanquish the threat. Even a fieldmouse would bite the finger that disturbed her nest, seagulls attack people too near their nests and even sheep who certainly are not known for their bravery and valour will stand up to a dog to protect her lamb. People are no different. When their family is under threat they are driven to defend it with great biological surges of adrenaline flooding the body preparing it for flight or fight.

The people who are coming to hear our side of the story do not understand that. It is so foreign to them that they cannot grasp it. If they are met with anything other than saccharine sweetness and a willingness to "sing from the same songbook" with expressions of gratitude and thankfulness for the "help" they believe that the people concerned are hostile/aggressive/have anger issues etc and it completely prejudices the evaluation. At the time of maximum stress, fear and primal protectiveness, the family has to put on the act of a lifetime in order to protect the family when every adrenaline fuelled instinct screams against it.

It is very difficult. It wouldn't be so bad if we were trying to deal with people who have their feet firmly on the ground on the same planet but that is not the case. If you have faith, please ask for God to open the blind eyes that are pre-programmed to see only what they want to see and to open the deaf ears that are pre-programmed to hear only what they want to hear. Let God's truth prevail!! Amen.
