Hallstand

The fake brass hooks in the passage that we hang our coats on have broken a couple of times and it is very annoying. My mum saw an old oak hallstand and she bought it for me and supervised the delivery of it while I was at Sean's. It has sturdy, stout hooks, a round mirror, two drawers and an umbrella stand. It is a lovely old piece - they don't make furniture like that these days. I love it. It was so kind of my mum to do all that for me. I have lent my camera to Caelyn to take to a farewell party for her close friend Val but when she returns it I will post a photo of the lovely old hallstand on here.

I really like non-posh old Oak furniture. There is something friendly, dependable, reliable and comforting about it. I wouldn't feel comfortable around delicate dainty furniture. To my mind, that belongs in a museum, but old Oak is a great companion in a friendly homely place where people can relax and enjoy themselves.
