Sean and the Guinness
Sean goes into the pub and asks for three Guinness. He sits there and sips from the first one, then the second, and the third. He does this until finally all three pints are finished. He pays the bill and leaves. A couple of nights later he comes back and repeats the ritual. This goes on for a while and finally the bartender's curiosity gets the better of him and he asks why the three Guinness and why drink them all together the way he does. "Well, " says Sean, "My brother Michael is in the USA and my other brother Liam is in Australia. We can't meet in the pub and share a Guinness, so we have an agreement that whenever we go have a drink, we order three pints and pretend we're together." The bartender thinks to himself, "What a wonderful idea." A few months go by and one night Sean comes in and he orders two Guinness. The bartender is afraid to ask, but Sean seems fine, so finally the bartender says, "I see you've only ordered two Guinness tonight. Did something happen to one of your brothers?"No, no," says Sean, "They're both fit as a fiddle and healthy as horses!" "So why only the two Guinness?" asks the bartender. "Ah, well now," says Sean, "I've given up Guinness for Lent."
Prepare for Emergency Landing
An airliner was having engine trouble, and the pilot instructed the cabin crew to have the passengers take their seats and get prepared for an emergency landing.
A few minutes later, the pilot asked the flight attendants if everyone was buckled in and ready.
"All set back here, Captain," came the reply, "except the lawyers are still going around passing out business cards."

Look how far she has come!
Birthdays Bemusement
I've just realised how many family and friends birthdays are clustered together.
We have just had:
Terrie
Lisa
Stephen
Caelyn's 21st
and the Forthcoming Attractions are:
Wendy's 1st birthday on 10 March
Nigel
Isabel
Sean
Andy, my daughter's father.
Seems like an epidemic of birthdays!
Sean is wondering how to celebrate his birthday as it falls before Easter and he keeps the Lenten fast. We may decide to celebrate it after Easter Sunday.
As it will be Wendy's ffirst birthday, we will have to have a party of sorts even though she will have no understanding of the significance of the jollifications.

Feed Added
I know some regular readers sometimes have trouble viewing my Blog and those who have slow dial-up internet connections can wait forever for a page to load only to find that nothing has been added.
To save you all a lot of time and hassle, I have added a site feed. It is the orange triangle up on the right of the address bar. (the address bar is the one that shows an orange B followed by http://meezermagic.blogspot.com/)
If you click on the feed, a form will open to give you the choice of having a short snippet of new posts sent to your inbox or your newsreader, saving you the hassle of checking.
It will be interesting to see how it works.

Hallstand
The fake brass hooks in the passage that we hang our coats on have broken a couple of times and it is very annoying. My mum saw an old oak hallstand and she bought it for me and supervised the delivery of it while I was at Sean's. It has sturdy, stout hooks, a round mirror, two drawers and an umbrella stand. It is a lovely old piece - they don't make furniture like that these days. I love it. It was so kind of my mum to do all that for me. I have lent my camera to Caelyn to take to a farewell party for her close friend Val but when she returns it I will post a photo of the lovely old hallstand on here.
I really like non-posh old Oak furniture. There is something friendly, dependable, reliable and comforting about it. I wouldn't feel comfortable around delicate dainty furniture. To my mind, that belongs in a museum, but old Oak is a great companion in a friendly homely place where people can relax and enjoy themselves.

Peek-a-Boo I see you
She looks so well and lovely but when these pics were taken, she had a virus. Her mum had taken her to the Dr because she was feverish. He said it was a virus and they should take her back to him if she isn't better by Friday. She looks OK in these pics because she was dosed up on paracetamol.
She saw the Dr when she was 9 months old and he asked how old she was and didn't believe Caelyn when she said Wendy was 9 months. He went and checked on his computer because she was well in advance of her milestones. This time he was saying how clever she was because she took off her own coat and co-operated with him when he was listening to her chest. He seems very 'taken' with her.
Butter wouldn't melt in her mouth, surely?

Hinting
Evicted!
Jack was happily ensconced in a suitcase on top of the cupboard and then Madam Spikkeldy evicted him. He moved over to the wooden top of the cupboard but then decided it wasn't too comfortable, so he moved in to the linen storage cupboard. Doesn't he look happy?
The question is, though, when Madam Spikkeldy finds out about his comfortable new berth, will she evict him from there too?

Hythe Seafront
The Hythe seafront has a nice flat wide pathway. There were the usual mix of people there - families with children and dogs, people on Mobility scooters, people pshing family members in wheelchairs, kids on bicycles, roller skates and scooters, old people holding hands and walking slowly. The seafront has a lovely atmosphere and here are some photos of it.
Hythe
The dog hasn't been out much lately and he was getting Cabin Fever so I took him for a ride on The Beast along the Folkestone Leas and right up to Hythe. We wandered around Hythe town centre for a while then went back to Folkestone along the Hythe seafront. I'm posting some pics of the Royal Military Canal, which is very pretty.

And to cheer you up ...
Bits of News
Caelyn and Nigel
Caelyn and Nigel have been wanting to move because their house is damp and impossible to heat and Wendy has been chesty since before Christmas. They have seen several properties to rent but today they saw the one they would really like and they have started the application process. They should know if they have been accepted as tenants by the end of next week.
Caelyn had the surprise of her life yesterday. She received a birthday card from her father and from her uncle Stephen in Australia,
Wendy
Wendy is cutting her 5th tooth.
Michelle
Michelle is not enjoying her job as much as she would like. It doesn't seem to be 'her' field. She doesn't want to leave as she feels she ought to stick at it but the fact remains that she isn't happy. I think her basic temperament is more geared to the 'humanities' such as writing or caring. Her last employer wants her back very much and says she is amazingly talented in Care Work and is management material. All we can do is hope for the best outcome.
Me
My health has been 'down' lately so every day is a struggle. The good news is that the landline was fixed today - there was a fault outside near the exchange. I had to take my annual forms into the Council today and it wasn't exactly consoling experience.

Caelyn's 21st
Caelyn's 21st went well but it took a lot out of me which is why there is a delay in posting about it.
We had a nice family evening and a good meal. Wendy was in a good mood too, but Caelyn and Nigel had had little sleep the night before as Wendy is teething. The evening came to an end at 21h30 because so many people were tired.

Mum's Desperate Battle
Mum's Desperate Battle to get help for her ill boy
Special Report By Paula Mackin.
Each day my son opens his eyes in pain and goes to sleep in agony.
David Christie is trapped in a body that doesn't work and in a world where nobody cares.
At 13-years-of -age his life has stopped. His once fun filled and active lifestyle is a distant memory since the former Jujitsu champion was diagnosed with ME, a debilitating illness that has robbed him of everything he took for granted.
Now, while the teenager's friends are out enjoying their teenage years, he is housebound, spending every single day in bed too exhausted even to make it down the stairs.
David is also in constant agony, at night he suffers such severe pains in his chest he is terrified he is having a heart attack.
And as his family look on in horror they are helpless to ease his suffering as the painkillers prescribed to him don't work.
Speaking to the Sunday World David's distraught mother Antoinette reveals why she has very little hope for her son's future and begs the Government to provide the cash to research the disease, which has wrecked their lives.
And she claims David is not receiving the best medical help as the doctors are limited in what they can do due to lack of understanding of the disease.
"No one is helping us, no one seems to be able to tell us what is happening to our son and there is very little being done to research this disease that has no cure," she said.
"My son is lying up the stairs unable to do anything. He suffers from severe chest pain on a nightly basis, pain that can only be described as having a heart attack and nothing is being done to help him.
"He is helpless, he relies on us for everything and we are not getting any support. We have no home help or funding to help care for David. Our support network is our family, it is a disgrace," she said.
David was diagnosed with ME in October 2005 and since then his life has stopped. He hasn't been to school and he has watched helplessly as his friends moved on.
"He has lost out on everything, you wouldn't recognise him now from the child he used to be. When I look at his picture I can't believe it is the same wee boy who is lying upstairs wasting away.
"It breaks my heart to see him like this, I feel so helpless because there is nothing I can do to help him. I get so angry because ME is not treated as seriously as it should be. Some doctors even refuse to accept it as an illness.
"The government should be supplying cash to fund research, they should be trying to find a cure even to give sufferers and their family hope but they're not. It is a forgotten illness, nobody seems interested," she claimed.
David was a very active and happy child who won the National Title in Jujitsu in 2002, he loved rock climbing and going out with friends who described him as the life and soul of the party.
Today however he has lost contact with his pals, his waking hours are filled with watching DVD's, his family are his only company.
"He should be out there enjoying his life, being happy not lying up there with his life passing by him. It is so sad and it breaks all out hearts. You wouldn't believe the child he was before, he never sat down for a minute.
"His room is covered in trophies, he loved school and excelled in everything he did. I would do anything to have that wee boy back, anything at all," she said tearfully.
Every day David opens his eyes in pain and goes to sleep in agony.
"He struggles to get out of bed and when he is able to do this his energy levels have been exhausted. A task we take for granted every day is a chore. The disabling weakness and exhaustion that he suffers is so profound that the use of the word fatigue is an insult.
"It is like having a vacuum cleaner above your head sucking all of your energy and strength out. Stairs are difficult for him to manage, he gets exhausted before he reaches the bottom and has to stop half way because he is in pain.
"His new friends are paracetamol and codeine though the pain is never completely relieved," Antoinette explained.
Every member of the Christie family have had their lives turned upside down since David's soul destroying illness took hold.
His exhausted mother relies on a mere two hours sleep per night as David sleeps all day only dropping off into a pain filled sleep at six in the morning.
"I am close to a nervous breakdown, I get about two hours sleep a night because I still have to keep the family and the house going while looking after David.
"There are nights when I don't get him to sleep until six and seven in the morning and then I have to get up and do all the everyday things that need done. His daytime is our sleep time so it is very hard.
The only thing that is keeping Antoinette sane is her campaign to help her son and raise awareness for the condition.
"We have a great G.P and consultant but they don't know enough about M.E to make a difference. There is only so much they can do, this is a very serious illness but there has not been enough research into it and I am determined to change that.
'I have raised six thousand pounds so far and I won't stop there. I want people to understand what this illness does to people, it's not the 'Yuppy flu' or chronic fatigue, that is the most insulting thing you can say to someone who is suffering from ME.
'Before David was diagnosed one consultant told him there was nothing wrong with him and that he should get himself back to school, I will never forgive that consultant for saying those words but it just goes to show how important it is to get recognition for ME.

She kept my Mum on the hop
My mum has been teaching her the parts of her body - eye, head, nose, mouth, ear, tongue. She also taught Wendy how to turn the brick trolley. She was going backwards while Wendy pretended to run her over and Mum was pretending to yell Oh! Oh! and Wendy was laughing her head off. They had a great time together but Mum was exhausted at the end of it.
Delightful
WooWoo came to visit
Nigel dropped Caelyn and Wendy off here when he went to pay their rent to their landlord.
Caelyn's News
Caelyn has been having gynae problems since Wendy's birth and her GP has dismissed her repeatedly with "there is nothing wrong". She really didn't want to see them about it again but she was desperate. Luckily the GP was training a junior Dr who was careful to take a history and then examine her properly. They discovered a birth injury high up that should have been stitched but wasn't. The wound has a chronic infection in it. She has started treatment and has to go back in a month's time, so thank God for the junior doctor wanting to impress his Professor. I am livid though. Why on earth was this wound only discovered 11 months after delivery? Why was she not properly examined at her post-natal checkup? I know that she has been to the Dr about it many times but no one bothered to take a look! So she has had pain and swelling and the effects of a chronic infection. How much has this unknown problem cost her in terms of her relationship with her husband and her baby? She says she is thankful that Nigel is such a good man because a lot of men would not have been half as helpful and tolerant. She has a great relationship with Wendy, but it might have been less of a struggle had she not had so much pain, discomfort and fatigue. This really isn't good enough, is it?
Michelle's News
Michelle got a great "WELL DONE" from her manager today because her sales were so fabulous that she is going to have someone sit with her to learn how to do it. Michelle as teacher? Yes. That girl could do whatever she sets her mind to. This is a great feather in her cap. She has done very well. And she is looking great too. Here is a photo of her with Wendy tonight.
