Dom Daniel OSB of Downside Abbey has died.
He was such a sweet man with twinkly blue eyes and a gentle, kindly spirit. I am sorry he has been Called Home, but I say in all earnestness that Heaven will be improved for his presence.
His Requiem Mass will be at St Gregory's Abbey Church at Downside, Stratton-on-the-Fosse next Friday at 14h30. Sean and I plan to attend to say a respectful farewell to a holy old gentleman who touched many lives in his quiet and simple way. I have heard that he was a top rate Theologian. I know nothing about that. All I know is his gentle service to people, his care and thoughtfulness, kindness and holiness. A light has left us.
Rest in Peace, dear Dom Daniel.
Enjoy your Just reward after a lifetime of willing labour in the Lord's Vineyard.
