New Year 2006
A New Year. A year like no other before as I am expecting my first Grandchild.
Sean is in Vienna, so Caelyn and Josie and I ate a festive roast dinner together and watched the old version of Camelot – the one with Richard Harris and Vanessa Redgrave. Nigel had some grub when he got back from work. Josie went home as she didn’t want too late a night, but Caelyn and Nigel stayed here overnight and we saw the New Year in together. It was good, and I am glad my mum was with us.
We were all thinking of Michelle, and hoping that she and Ian were having a wonderful time in Disneyland, Paris.
We were also thinking of absent friends and family, like Steve, Melanie, Barbara and Paul etc, but most of all we were missing June. We miss her in a thousand small ways, as she was part of the fabric of the family for so long. When people say of Skippy “he’s a good dog really” the memories come flooding back. Caelyn is sad that June won’t see her baby, for instance. We loved June a lot, and yes, we miss her. The memories are warm and gentle, and in a way I am glad that she is ill no more, even though we miss her.
We miss family too. We haven’t seen Steve for far too long. I’d like to have a sisterly gossip with Melanie. These things are in God’s hands.
We have also been holding in our hearts the sick and suffering friends like David W, Vicky G, Sumano, Von, Mary, Tracey, Elaine, Caryll etc. I hope the New Year brings you good things.
My New Year’s Resolution is to do one kind and unselfish thing for somebody every day this year. May God give me the inspiration and strength to do it.
